Fun History Facts

When was the FBI Created?

Indeed, the FBI, or the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has an interesting origin story. It traces its roots back to a force of Special Agents established in 1908, thanks to the efforts of Attorney General Charles Bonaparte during Theodore Roosevelt's presidency. The connection between Bonaparte and Roosevelt was forged during a meeting of the Baltimore Civil Service Reform Association, where both men delivered speeches. This historical meeting eventually led to the formation of what is now one of the United States' most iconic law enforcement agencies, with a rich history of serving the nation.

Who was Al Capone?

Al Capone, also known as "Scarface," was a prominent American gangster and businessman. Born on January 17, 1899, he gained notoriety during the Prohibition era as the co-founder and leader of the Chicago Outfit, a powerful criminal organization. His reign as a crime boss lasted for seven years until he was incarcerated at the age of 33.

Capone's downfall came when he was sentenced to 11 years in prison for tax evasion and fined $80,000. This marked the end of the era for one of the most infamous and influential criminals of the 1920s and 1930s. His life and activities have since become a part of American crime history and legend.
